Acts 17:6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

The book of Acts church was an active and dynamic church that had every intention of evangelizing their known world.  They did not fear persecution and they moved with purpose.

I often speak to my son about moving with purpose.  It simply means to act like you have somewhere to go and move with enough energy and speed that you will make it there in a reasonable amount of time.  The church needs to move with purpose in reaching those that are in need of Jesus Christ.

Is it possible to turn our world upside down as they did in the book of Acts?  Do we have the ability to preach the gospel with an authority in ways that may make us uncomfortable? Are we willing to step outside the box and reach for those that seek to fill a void in their life?  The Bible states:

Psalms 39:5 ...verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity.

The term vanity means emptiness.   Simply, man at his best  is empty, but the scripture is so beautiful when a couple verses later it states:

Psalms 39:7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.

There is a world that is empty of hope, and we have what they are in need of.  They are waiting for a church that moves with purpose to turn their life and their world upside down.

Are you willing?
