I spent today in Newport News, Virginia at a meeting.   This trip involved a few hours of driving which was OK except there are a few places between Newport News and King George that do not have radio reception.  The best part of returning from any trip is to be able to see my lovely and beautiful wife and my very awesome children.  When I think back to the days when I was single, I remember it being lonely returning to a house that nobody else lived in.  Although, I do enjoy a little quiet time now, there is nothing like watching my daughter empty the cabinets of all its spices or my wife chasing my giggling son through the house.  The noise brings a certain peace and joy to the house.

We spend so much time going from here to there that sometimes we forget to appreciate the things that God has given us.  I do not want to watch my children go off to college with the regrets of an absent parent or look at my wife when we are in our 90's and think that I should have been a better husband.    The Bible states:

James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

My pastor would always say life is a dressing room.  You should be sure to cherish the blessings of God that are your family.  Each of them are a gift from God and I believe that He expects us to love and care for them and even more importantly teach them the truth of God's word.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
