Our country is in economic hard times as you can tell from all the news articles (one is posted above!) and each of you are effected by this downturn. Although, our economy runs in cycles as anyone that has ever taken Economy 101 understands it is never easy.  The negative news can be disconcerting and often overwhelming, it is essential that we understand the Biblical principles that govern our lives...

Psalms 121:1  I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

Psalms 121:2
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

David wrote...

Psalms 37:25  I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Our priorities set our direction.  The Bible does not promise prosperity, but it does require us to be good stewards of our money and being a Christian does not mean that we do not have to pay our creditors when we purchase something we could not afford in the first place.  The word does say that when we seek Him first that He will provide for us...

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

In these tough economic times, it is not time for the Christians to become defeated nor downtrodden because we worship the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords who said in Psalms 50...

10 For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
11 I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
I do want to say that we cannot expect God's helping hand if we do not fulfill His economic plan for the church found in Malachi 3...

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
