Psalms 91:1 states...

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I have checked other versions of the Bible for this scripture and this is what they say...

Message Bible...

You who sit down in the High God's presence, spend the night in Shaddai's shadow,

Amplified Version...

HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].

This scripture has always fascinated me.  It is a word picture written by the Psalmist to reveal the protection that God places upon His people.  Matthew Henry's Commentary states He that by faith chooses God for his protector, shall find all in him that he needs or can desire.   I can imagine the Psalmist writing these as he stared at something casting a shadow.  His heart jumped as he realized that God almighty shadows those that live in His presence.  The shadow is protection from heat and pressure of life.  It provides relief while fighting the fight of faith giving us continued rest and hope in Him...

Psalms 16:9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
