In the 5th chapter of Timothy is Paul giving instructions to the church concerning the caring of the widows. This was obviously an important issue within the church at that time simply because their was no government assistance available to these ladies.
There is one scripture within this chapter that I would like to comment on. It is verse 17...
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
This scripture speaks to us today in volumes. As a pastor under 40, I stand upon the shoulders of those that have gone before me. My father received his license as a minister in 1976. He has maintained his integrity and staunchness for the truth for over 30 years. It is his generation of preachers that we must honor with our words and deeds. We must continue to preach the Apostolic message that was passed to them by the pioneer preachers of the 20th Century while lifting them up as elders of the church. We have the ability to tap into their knowledge and experiences which will continue the Apostolic revival through my generation. Our mission is simple...be Apostolic in word and deed.
